    Angry Help please. 314mm upgrade

    Can anyone help/advise please?

After getting the big brake upgrade from the Saab dealer I managed to get them fitted today. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem.

The right caliper wouldn't bleed properly, so after much up and down on the pedal the mechanic took the car for a spin. The right caliper isn't disengaging straight away. If you press the brake pedal it takes 3 seconds for the caliper to let go.

After completely bleeding the system 2 more times it was still doing it and the pedal is still travelling to the floor (takes about 10 seconds).

Is this just a bedding in issue or have I got a duff caliper?

    Any advise greatly received.

Oh and to top it off the mechanic told me that I need new rear shocks....

Has the mechanic tried clamping the affected caliper off to see if the pedal goes hard?,also how do the brakes stop the car?,if it stops the car it could be a bedding in issue, mine felt soft but it's now improved after a few miles.

He clamped off both lines one at a time. The pedal was ok when the problem on was clamped off. Also it really pulls to the left (as if only one caliper is working). Got a feeling I may have to ring the Saab garage on Monday...

he may have caused some internal damage to the inside of the flexi hose on that side, particularly if it isn't recuperating quickly enough. Try a new flexi first

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

    Quick update:

Gary3306 was spot on. It was the brake hose that was the problem. All sorted now, and the brakes are bedding in nicely.

All credit to James at the Saab dealer. He was more than willing to help out (although geography got in the way).
