Default Fitting new exhaust tail pipes to a 2.2 Direct

My 2.2 Direct has twin exhausts, as they all do, but on the Design they are out of sight behind the rear bumper and pointing down. I've seen some nice kits on here recently and I was wondering how difficult a job it is to fit them onto the existing tailpipes? Is this something I can do myself or am I gonna have to book it in to a garage at more expense?

    Any advice appreciated

If you can get hold of the SRi bumper or which ever kit it is your going for, then all you would have to do is fit new SRi back boxes.

Personally i would opt for having a full proper cat back system installed. I had mine done at MIJ performance in wallsall and i was so pleased with it im proud to put a link to their site in my sig. they are reasonable on the price as well, mite be worth jus getting a quote?

    Thanks Mat.

I haven't looked into it enough yet to decide what kit to go for, other than I know I am definately going to do it. Someone posted pics of their new set on here the other day and it looked mint and made me very jealous Gotta get it done.

Cheers for the info and the link

My advice on the kit is stick to either VX or Irmscher. Ive gone down the VX route and fitted the VXR rear insert and bumper skirt. There are some kits out there like JDL ones but when you come to sell it you gotta think it might not be to everyones taste. Unless your planning on keeping your car for years of course, then you can do what you like lol

honestly though as mentioned i cant reccommend MIJ enough, they are spot on!

Anyone know what it will cost me for the VXR tail pipes and bumper skirt? Mat? The fitting doesn't scare me too much so it's just to cost of the parts

Thanks Glen. Which ones are the Vxr copies there? Can't see any at a glance for 36. See others for 38 and 35.

I presume I'll have to pay to have the skirt painted as well?

Also, wont I need entire Vxr back boxes? Not just the tail pipes? That will be a lot costlier will it not?

Matty take a looky here and check the sales brochure for the description of the twin exhaust pipes that was "supposed" to be supplied. PM me if you need any further advice etc.

    New Exhaust FOC

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys I wrote in a couple of weeks ago to say I might be getting an Irmsher exhaust fitted to my new Vectra Design 2.2 .

Well I had it fitted last Thursday and its looks brilliant. Dual x double st/st and sound the part as well.

But take note the story is this...if any one has bought a new FACE LIFTED 2.2 Design (has to be a design at least) according to the middle sections of the brochure, it states that it comes with visible dual st/st exposed pipes. Well when I got my motor it had hidden pipes, i.e. they discharge under the rear valance and looked **** according to what I was expecting!

So I tackled Vauxhall at Luton and was told by the customer care department that they should have been as per the brochure and it must be a factory "Mis-fit" Then I got a call from the Marketing boys (at VH) saying that it was a mistake in the brochure and also the customer care guys were wrong as well. After a bit of mild threats about the trading standards/Auto express mag etc and citing the fact that I had bought this car expecting what was advertised, they said my local garage would fit the Irmsher exhaust and bottom valance to go with it for free (sri pipes could not be retro-fitted for some reason??). Thats what I call customer satisfaction..over a grands worth of kit for sweet ferk all. Moto here is stick to your guns if you believe you are right and fight for your rights etc.

I will send in a picture if I get dry day.
