2.2 sri Vs 3.2 V6..Opinions Please!

im mainly doing trips around town but now and then travel 300 mile round trip, have a golf gti turbo at present that has been remapped to 195bhp but its too small and costs me £40.00 to do 120 combined miles the other day

Around town it ll drink petrol and im not joking ... u ll see the needle move before your eyes ...

dont buy the V6 then!

yeah ther golfs the same, around 16/17 mpg around town and 31 on motorway, guess i'll have to give up the nice sound of the v6 and go for the 2.2 sri, dam fuel prices

Around town mate my 2.2 is doing a steady 28.4mpg. Ive seen it as low as 24 though. If your looking at a 2.2 petrol get the direct version, about 10 bhp more and better on fuel. The older 2.2 like mine isnt thst far off GSI consumption but without the power.

Also the 2.2 is a chain drive for the cams,so no big bills for a belt change.

thanks rushy i had a vec B sri 1996, it had done alot of miles and was always breaking down or had something wrong, hope the c class is better?

Yep both,it's basically the same engine,just differences to the injection system and head i think.

i see the directs are more expensive though to buy, is there alot of difference in mpg with a direct and normal 2.2 sri?

not much i would think but the power is a bit better and you get twin exhausts on the direct ...
