Removed pollen filter, not too bad, air-con at full chat, temp set half way so flap opened on heater box and away with the anti-bac spray. Also gave the pollen filter a dose. Temp switch then back to cold and left air-con going for about 10 mins then turned off and waited for the smell of Satans socks.........................and no smell!!!!!!!

This is obviously the best and cheapest remedy as i've tried the cannister you let off in the car and to be honest, it was cr4p. There was a lovely orange smell and the inside smelt like a Jaffa Cake factory but that only lastest about half an hour then it went. There's no way it's gonna suck the stuff into the heater system as good as actually getting stuff directly into the fan area.

    Lofty,

    Sure is Glenboy.

Just been to pick the missus up so had the air-con running for at least 20 mins. Turned it off 5 mins before home with just the fan blowing and no smell. Woo Hoo!

An alternative method that also works is to put the AC on full blower with re-circ on then spray fabrize (or other, like detol) into the passenger footwell area, so it gets sucked into the system and close the doors and leave for 5 minutes blowing. Works a treat and kills all the bacteria and smells.
