Trouble Setting Off

Hi All - I have only had the car a couple of weeks - 1.8 54 plate, and at first I though it was just me needing to get used to the biteing point on the clutch and the sensitivity of the throttle etc but im coming more to thinking theres a slight problem somewhere.

I find that theres a slight delay between pressing the accelerator and the revs picking up, as I start to let the clutch out it almost stalls so Im kind of having to push the clutch back in a bit and giva a bit more gas - all in all not a smooth get away but managable if I set off slowly.

I have also noticed that when giving it the Beanz in 1st and then changing up it really dies as soon as you change to second gear. It recovers after a second or so but its like a huge flatspot but again if you take it easy its not noticable. I have searched the forums and im thinking possibly Lambda sensor, possibly MAF or maybe it needs an ECU update. Anyone else had anything similar?

Yes - Air filter was replaced just before I bought it, I have physically checked it myself as well and its clean.

I didnt know there was one so thanks. Im thinking its going to have to go to the dealers but I want to avoid paying for trial and error parts replacements until they happen to get the correct item. Especially given that my local dealer is listed in the dodgy dealers section!

sounds more like the classic 1.8 software 'delay' to me... they aren't the most responsive engines to the throttle..certainly nothing like the 2.2 petrol's..

my best advice... get it in to the dealers and see if there is a later software update for the engine
