Default Siphoning fuel from a Veccy C?

There's been reports in my area of petrol/derv been siphoned from fuel tanks. In thew case of diesel, holes have simply been drilled under the tanks and drained out.

With petrol, it's the old hose job and been siphoned out.

My mates S60 Volvo has a gauze in the neck/filler pipe - is there anything in the Vextra filler to stop some scumbag nicking £70.00 of my hard earned cash

Oh, and my mate with the Volvo washed his motor at the weekend and found the fuel filler cap had been mullered in an attempt to get his petrol - £150 to fix the damage but he kept his petrol

I used to operate all my cars fill to fill, and with no less than half a tank
I no longer do this and at the end of most journeys the tank has between 2 and 7 litres left in it

i wonder how much fuel has been stolen from cars - trucks contain a lot of easy to reach fuel and there are people who target them but sounds like a scare story doing the roads to me. If you were going to do it what vehicle would you target ? Would have to be a big x5 or truck - why pick a car that might have only a few ltrs ?

    I'm damned if I'm shelling out £75 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/InstantFit-Tru...2em118Q2el1247

Manufacturers have a responsibility to make things secure - they fit alarms and immobilisers to stop stuff inside (and the car) been nicked, so why not alrm the fuel filler cap?

My car's outside my bedroom window, since Luke turned up, I hear things like you wouldn't believe, trust me, I wouldn't need an alarm! A barely clothed Andrew brandishing a 9 iron ought to dissuade them.....

I thought the Vectra had an anti syphon neck. so they would need to either "break" the filler cap off or " bodge" a hole in the tank.

Its only going to happen more as fuel prices continue to go up I guess.. I still cant believe that they havent found a proper alternative fuel! Chap I work with got his cavalier running on water to prove it could be done a few years ago, if he can do it then...

Tomorrow's job - get length of hose pipe and syphon some petrol out of a motor.

Suppose I should try it on my own motor first to see how easy it is (or not?)
