micro fibre cloths

What is the best way of washing the micro fibre cloths, can they be put in the washing machine and what sort of soap is the best to use, What do those of you do when they need cleaning.

stick mine in the washer with normal washing powder/liquid...but dont use fabric softner though...dont know why though...

I always find fabric softener does the same on micro fibres as it does on towels - you get a kind of residue, which although it is lovely and soft, actually repels moisture instead of absorbing it.

Microfibre cloths are the absolute best - I don't even bother spending a fotune on them - the best ones I have had are the £1 ones from bargain cheapo shops!!! They do the job brilliantly, wash wel, and it does't matter when you have to chuck them away when they're beyond use!

thats what i thought Mrs D, but according to the guys on detailing world, the cheap ones can cause micro scratching on the paint. Quite how far people intend to go with trying to prevent scratching is up to them, but micro scrathing sounds a step too far for me. You could go on for ever. Saying that, i have just spent a small fortune on a load of proper cloths from serious performance and Clean and shiny.

Wash mine with Woolite in the washing machine on a delicate cycle, ie 30'.
Leave them to dry naturally, don't put them in the tumble dryer.
Tesco do some at the moment 2 for £1. I didn't expect quality but I thought they would be allright for the interior but they turned out to be quite good.
They also do blue microfibre pads for £1 each and I used these to polish the glass one side, turn it over and wipe clear with the other side.
My wife says I have OCD. So what its cheaper than playing golf or watching football.

My wife thinks I am made too, But at least see knows where I am on a saturday afternoon, and see gets her car washed and polished, even if she does not notice it has been done,

The best test for the cheapie microfibres (if you want to use them on the bodywork) is to get an old CD and rub them on it and see if it scratches the CD.... If it did I wouldnt be putting them near the car paintwork!
