    Default help needed big probs!!!!!!!!aaaaaarrggghhh

evening guys, my 2.2 direct vec has a serious problem or problems.when i give her a bit of a welly( not happening as often when driving like my gran but still missfiring) she will missfire at about 2500rpm in 2nd, 3800rpm in 3rd, 4500rpm in 4th then my car with spanner light comes on and (today engine emissions light came on) feels like she is almost stalling whilst still with my foot down(engine sort of strugles) and looses about 90% of power (just doesn't accelerate). took to nationwide autocentre for them to tell me the car had not recorded any fault codes and on there intensive test drive could not see any probs. just wandered if any of u vx gods have any ideas?

    cheers martin.

    What miles on clock mate.?
    IS this only when cold?
What happens when you get it up to a decent speed / revs constant - or on a long drive to get it hot - is it the same or do the problems go away?
    Could be dodgey petrol batch.
Could be faulty injector/s (blocked or leaking seal)
Have you tried cleaning the injectors with redex or the like?
    4500 in forth - is this a 6 or 5 speed box?
when it gets past the 'misfire' in 4th will it still pull enough to go to 5th and still pull?

    92k on the clock
give the car 5mins of driving whether hot or cold and it all kicks off like i say mainly when driven harder.
use asda petrol in both my cars and have done in vectra for last 6 months.
car is also fully serviced if makes any difference.

Has it been recently (how long ago - or how many miles) serviced?
I mean did this problem start shortly after the service?

Hello Andy - Thats a good idea - dis pack - but if it was the dis pack - would it not do it more random? I'm thinking along the lines of loose connections ?

Dis pack - think like an old plug lead breaking up, could cause a misfire at any point in the rev range, depending on throttle input or engine load.

Yes - but wanna veccy is really specific on when it happens at each rev point - so like you say the plug lead breaking up can cause a misfire at any point - but will it always be at the same point?
The leads often get moved when being serviced so I thought it would be a random error if was the distrubution leads/pack.
Hmmm - not sure now - hey wanna veccy - is it always at the same point in the revs or is it more random?
Benny - that sounds expensive - is it common?
