    Default Madame Skoda

Passed her annual test today without one advisory, to say I'm chuffed is an understatement, all I had done yesterday was the CV boot and two tyres.

Nice one VV. No need to put the cost of a fair up to meet the MOT costs then. PS More money to spend on "pop" tonight then.

It is what the general public do not realise that our taxis have to have annual test on top of an MOT test.
It is good news for you VV,
Has your local T.A gone for a fair increase to cover the fuel ?

I too did not realise you "cabbies" needed another MOT test as well as the ordanary one. I tought it was only the Black Cabs.

I think you will find it varies with Licensing Authority.
Chester used to want an MOT and then would walk round the car and check things like lights, tyres.........pretty basic. Now it is an enhanced MOT (or mot and taxi test) once a year up to 8 yrs old and then twice yearly.

We put in for one about 2 mths ago when it 1st started, it was approved and then someone who hasn't driven a cab for 18 yrs who manages a firm objected, given that we are mid table across the fares league in the PHM it's really poor and I feel she shouldn't have had a say in it anyway due to it not personally effecting her, we have an ultra cheap PH firm here which doesn't help, working a tariff that we had in 1996, so you can imagine I get the screams of how much from ppl because we look expensive, buit the reality is we boot at £2 but Fareham boot at £3 iirc, God invented buses for ppl who want to ride cheap, a taxi is really the poor man's limo imo.

Yeah it's for a Certificate of Compliance, basically it's an MOT that insists on a few extra's over a general MOT, I don't generally bother with an MOT these days as the certificate is good enough, but I might have it done in a few weeks time to keep the history up and incase I get the new car bug later in the year.

Ain't it ever, I've been trawling A/T for weeks now incase it failed on big money stuff, I think it's the 1st time I've not had an advisory put on the car, normally it's a bit of play in a bearing or similar, still I never mind that cos all the time I had VX on warranty it was ammo to make sure they fixed it FOC and properly.
