    Default Very Poor from Vauxhall

Ok,so i got an engine replacement FOC for my Vectra, but it was essentially down to Vauxhall's parts or mechanics but the Custmoer Service is shocking. My car is at 51k and 2 weeks ago had the engine replaced FOC due to another timing chain issue. The chain and tensioner itself were replaced at 26k.So,in effect, 2 x timing chain failures at 51k.Both times were fitted by Vauxhall approved technicians,1 when the car was manufactured and once for the replacement. On the latter, my car was immobile and I had no option other than to join the RAC to get my car towed to the Dealer. I sent a letter to Vauxhall informing them of ALL the problems I have had with my car and how I'd lost confidence in it

Today I got a call from a Du**an Fa*con*r from Customer Service.I was told that there is NO warranty with the new engine as I never paid anything towards it (I was never given the option or I would have paid 1%).So if anything goes wrong again,I need to fight my case all over again.Basically it isn't Vauxhall's fault that my car broke down so it was my own decision to join the RAC ??? I asked today whose fault it was as all the work and parts are Vaxhall recognised. All I got was 'I can understand your frustration'. So,the bottom line is, the only benefit of using a reputable Vauxhall Dealer is that it backs up your Warranty. As for the standard of work.......in my experience, very poor.

    Rant over

You are still covered by statutory laws relating to merchantable quality, etc under sales of goods act.

I believe this is normal for all car manufacturers, any part replaced under warranty will only be covered up till the end of the inital 3 year/ 60,000 mile warranty period. If you get something replaced under warranty when your car is out of its 3 year/ 60,000 period it won't come with any further cover.

No.It.It's a 2.2 Direct.Really disappointed with the car and, hate to say it, has put my off ever buying another Vectra.Absolutely no confidence left with the car.

I appreciate the comments, but 2 x timing chain fails in 51k miles!!!.ALL work carried out on the car throughout its life has been through a Vauxhall Dealership. I understand about Warranty etc, but I was left with no other choice than to get the car towed to the Dealership. The reason I was in this position was because of a 2nd timing chain failure.Someone (not me) is at fault. While I am fortunate to get a new engine, I am somewhat pi55ed off that I was forced into joining the RAC. Just a rant but I wish my car had been reliable and great to own, but in summary, it just hasn't been. I am tempted to say ' What n*xt?' but don't want to tempt fate

The facts are......As long as your car remains within it's warranty period, ie 3 years or 60,000 miles, if your engine goes bang again. it will be covered by warranty. Even the new engine should carry a 12 month warranty in it's own right.

Yes, I agree with the above
I had an air con pump go just two weeks before my warranty expired
The receipt clearly states that the part is covered for 12 months, the labour for 3 months

    However, on the downside
If a part is replaced within warranty then the same also applies
I had this happen with two boot locks
The first failed just before the car was 1 year old
The second failed 14 months later
SureGuard declined the replacement, as the part was no longer covered, as it had since been replaced

And that is the fact, if you get told no no in future just quote trading standards and that you intend to start proceedings in one hour, stating as you are a good bloke you want to give someone with authority the chance to make it right, best of luck John and lets hope it doesn't ever come to that.
