    Default Holding gears

    Hi All,
Hoping someone might be able to advise re a problem I have with the auto box on my Holden Vectra CDXi. (3.2 V6, 66,00Kms)
A year or so ago, I had the auto replaced (under warranty) due to erratic changes, a problem which has been documented on this forum before.
Since then, I have had the following problem:
If the car has been stopped (like at traffic lights) with the nose higher than the rear, when I move off up any sort of incline, the auto will stay in first gear and will not change up despite picking up speed - even if the road levels out or even falls away downhill. At times, I have had to stop the car completely and start off again, after which it changes up fine. If I can't stop (if there is traffic behind) I have to drive along at a slow speed so that I do not over rev the engine until I can.
Car has been in at a GMH dealer more times than I can remember and I have written to GMH H/O. Final word back is that "other Vectras do the same thing", "these auto boxs do this - they are very complex".
Has anyone come across this problem before??
    Car is fantastic otherwise.
    Cheers!
    Al

Cannot be that complex then if it cannot work out when to change gears!
I would suggest you take it up with your local trading standards (if there is such a thing in Australia) as the gear box is not fit for use and you have proof in the letter back from GMH

Sorry, I should clarify that it was the GMH dealer who made the comments and not GMH themselves. My next step is to go back to GMH Australia and tell them again that all is not well.
    Cheers!
