Thumbs down Split pipe or is it worse?

    Hi

I'm hoping this is a simple fix but need some advise please. My CDTI 1.9's turbo doesn't seem to be kicking in until over 2500 RPM and I can hear a slight blowing noise from the engine bay. Had a peek under the bonnet when i just got back home and it smells a lot of fumes on the right hand side of the engine next to the battery, theres also a fair bit of black sooting on the right hand side injectors.

I'm hoping its a split pipe and will have to take a look in the day light tomorrow, but has anyone had a pipe split somewhere down there, or can anyone tell me what to look for around that area?

    Thanks

cant recall any members having split pipes on the 1.9cdti... plenty on the 2.2dti's though. cant think whats on the right hand side what could be causing this, aint seem under my bonnet for a little while. Maybe when you have a look tomorrow take some snaps and put them up or something and i'll get under my bonnet tomorrow when i get home from work and figure out whats around that area

It seems to be the corrugated pipe going from the top of the exhaust manifold round to the right hand side of the engine. Is this for the EGR? Sticking my fingers down by whatever it joins to you can really feel a blowing. The water pipes make it a bit restrictive to see it and I couldn't remove them as I have no coolant at home. Hoping its just the case of sticking a new pipe on!!

oh yes, do it yourself, it doesn't warrant a garage doing it, just get ready to keep loosing the new seal down the engine bay everytime you try to fit it in place, lol. damn seal. You might want to drain the coolant as it makes it a little easier to get to the EGR pipe then.
