    confused Heatings gone

My heating has gone from hot to just luke (if i'm lucky) warm.
There's water in the system so not losing any there but thought could have air lock so i emptied it and refilled it,still nothing.
If i sit in traffic the temp gauge goes to half way but no more than that.
Both the water pipes going from engine bay into car are hot.
Could it just be thermostat that needs replacing? Any idea's would be helpfull as i cant get my car booked in to vauxhall's till 12th.

Is the engine/temp guage still moving as per normal? Check the pipe which leads away from the thermostate when the car is just started.. should be cold... if it warms up at the same temp as the rest of the pipes then it could well be the thermostat.. the pipe leading away should get hot all of a sudden like when it opens..

THis happened to me in a 1.7 TD, dont know if the situation is the same, but I had to replace the thermostat, apprently it kept sticking and the air was not getting hot at all, even with the car stood in traffic for 15 mins! Sometimes if I tapped the outer casing of where the thermostat was located, it used to warm up for a short while, but then it used to lock up again on the next usage. More than likely going to be this I should think, but I dont know where it is located on the 2.0 DTI. HTH.

    Bye bye Vec B
