    Default traction control/wheel spin

Recently upgraded my veccy from a prefacelist 1.8LS to a facelift1.9CDTI(150). What a difference! Not only is is so much faster accelerating (when moving) but it also corners and handles so much better as well. Downside: slower starts and very short 1st gear, and no traction control. The better handling apparently makes this item not necessary!

I work my car quite hard but have not seen wheel spin as a real problem (and as there is no tc light, was not really sure when I had it!). However, once or twice in 2nd and accelerating hard in the wet, the revs seem to suddenly go up as if I dipped the clutch, - is this a sign of wheel spin? I'm really not sure what happens in 1st as its all over too quick! (Can't seem to 'smoke' my tyres from a standing start though - only 'squeal' them). Otherwise I've been clear of wheel spin, and its a great car.

TC doesn't come as standard on the 4 potters apparently! All Vectra cdti's are fitted with the F40 gearbox which does indeed have a uselessly low first gear.Great for towing a caravan and being kind to your clutch, but little else. Not sure why "better handling" would negate the use of TC?

Me neither. Word was that VX/Opel 'raided the Saab parts bin' and found a front suspension bush that improved the handling, and used it on the facelift. But Saab didn't do away with TC. Daft, arrogant, penny-pinching or all three. TC is a safety feature after all.

Some early 4-pot facelifts (excluding the 1.8 petrol) came with TC fitted.

It's quite common to find fuses and relays etc for items that aren't actually fitted. So not sure on that one.
