    Default Would You Keep It?

This is with the viewpoint of reliability and the associated problems of the common faults of the CDTi 16v which are -

    EGR Valve
    Inlet Manifold
    Injector Wiring Harness
    DPF

2004 CDTi SRi Estate done 32k with no loan hp etc, owned out right.Purchased when 10 months old with 11k on.

Currently having inlet manifold/swirl valve replaced ( a story I will tell on completion and gettting car back from VXL )
EGR Valve - new one is on order from vxl but I do not think it is faulty, cleaned out and will be cleaned every 6 months to keep on top of it.
No problems with injector wiring currently.
No issues with DPF in 3 years.

So the main fault is being dealt with - inlet manifold/swirl valve
EGR is sweet as a nut and cleaned out now.
Would you keep it thinking you were sat on a ticking time bomb?
    OR
The main issues are/have been sorted and should not really have any problems now?

    Keep it.

Other than the issues you've identified, there aren't any other common faults. It's like anything, if you're prepared to put the time and effort into maintaining it, it will look after you too.

    Keep it.

Never had any of those problems with my estate. I don't think my 120 has a swirl valve but has all the rest.

All cars have problems so its a gamble if your new car is any better

Had new wiper likage at weekend so another common fault sorted.

Yep oil and filter every 6 months and new air filter every 12 months.Runs on V power only - yes alot of debate on that - but only fill up on average once a month.

the old adage.. if you look after the car, it'll look after you.. still stands..

if it receives a good service regulary then it should see you right...

Me and the missus had dicussed alot on whether to keep it and had come to the conclusion as already posted.
    Wanted a 2nd opinion.
Will find out when they put my car back together if my DPF is ok,I think it will be.As mentioned before never had problem with DPF.

How did you know your swirl valves where knackerd because I keep thinking mines on its way out. If engine is hot and cars stood for a few hours then on next run there seems to be more turbo lag.Had new egr valve under warrenty now just out of warrenty. If I need a new manifold I wont be happy with Vauxhall if I have to fork out £800 for a well known fault.28k on 05

Thats not entirely true is it Mark, given the trouble Cara's dad had with his one, I think if it was me I'd run it another 20k max and then see how it feels, this engine really does seem one of the good or bad examples at work, and we all know how sweet it is when it is working.
