    Default Autobahn speedo accuracy

I will driving on the continent most of next week (through France, Belgium, Hollan and Germany) and will include some time on 'no limit' sections of Autobahns.

Last had a good run on one of these in my old 9-5 Saab 3.0 diesel and managed a top speed reading of 141mph so looking forward to seeing what my 06 3.0 Ctdi Siggy can get to. Any thoughts on accuracy of speedo reading on the VX or in general? What would other V6 diesel owners be looking for?

Boringly, I've clocked 35k miles in the Siggy since I got it last April and never had the inclination to give it a go at top speed (twitchy licence and I've got a bike for that) so I'm looking forward to finding out

normally they can be as much as 5% out.. so 100 MPH is shown as 105 etc.. best bet is to get GPS readings.. much more accurate..

Cabby has seen over 140mph out of his ( mapped) 3 ltr, so it should get up to those sort of speeds..

The saab engine is the same - pretty much - as your 3.0 siggy. Its got a top book speed of around 140mph, so let us know how you get on!

Mine on the rolling road read 165 in car and 155 on the computer so 5ish% is about right!

    Will do.

The Saab has the same spec figs as the older VX 3.0, from memory 177bhp not 183 and NM a bit less. It also had a 5 speed box which might be less relevant for top speed. My 06 VX feels like a better installation with fueling a lot smoother all through the range so I'm hopeful it will go as well if not a bit better. Would also be nice if the whole plot feels as well planted at speed as well cos the old Swede basher sat at 120 - 130 (indicated) for mile after mile and felt nice and safe.

Watch this spot for (unscientific) report!
