Tow bar prices

Whats the average price for a tow bar with ball to pull caravan. Including fitting can you get it done from vauxhall dealer

depends if you want a detachable or fixed bar..and yes, VX will happily fit the bar for you..

Dont know much just need something to pull caravan. Does the detachable make it look discreet and you just plug and play. Also do vx stock there own and whats a rough fitted price. Thanks for quick reply

VX do stock their 'own' bars.. but for accurate pricing ( and i'd only personally get a fixed bar) it'd be best to get a quote from your local dealer..

And just remember - even though the parts dept is only feet away from the service desk, they have no idea what each other does... So phone parts for the price for the bar, then make ANOTHER call to service to ask how much to fit the thing...

Beware.... you may need to get auxillary electrics tech 2'd. I asked at my local stealers about this and they quoted me 3hrs work for this alone

!! I got a 'mate' who works as a fitter in the SAME garage to tech 2 the electrics on the fiddle. I stood and watched him and it didn't even take him 5 minutes!! Saved meself a few bob there!!

It cost me £250 to add my fixed swan-neck with twin electrics when I bought the car new. I believe the charge for a removable bar was £500, which is expensive when you can get the complete VX towing package added to the spec for just £500, this includes a detachable bar and most importantly the self leveling rear suspension etc.

I fitted my fixed bar with twin electrics bought off ebay for £25.

I bought a Witter bar with a fixed ball for about £70 new last year. I fitted it myself no problem but had to buy an electrics box which plugs into a socket behind the nearside trim in the boot. That was bought from the internet for about £30. It all worked first time and has given no problems since.

I went into VX yesterday and they were advertising a fixed tow bar fitted with electrics for 295. There was another tow bar thread on here within the last week with a bit more info.
