Default brakes - odd wear rate

Just had car's first MOT today. All went well & sailed through.

But they have advised that the rear brake pads are down to 20% remaining & will need changing soon. The fronts are at 80%

I've had the car from 11 months old & 11,000 miles. Now 3 years old (hence MOT) & 36,000 miles. Pretty sure these are the original pads (or VXL forgot to bill be for replacement ones last year?)

I would have expected the fronts to be worn down more than the rears???

nope, it's a quirk of the vectra C that it will wear the backs out faster than the fronts....

    you brake too lightly..:..

my 55,000 mile GSi has had 5 sets of front pads on 3 sets of front discs, and 3 sets on the back.....

darn police spec pads are very soft, but do stop well..

so having done 36,000 miles & still got 80% of the front pads left means I must hardly brake at all - lol

Noticed this when Drinky changed my discs and pads the other week. The pads that came off have all been on for about 22k miles and the rear ones were worn quite a bit more than the fronts.

The first set of pads lasted till 47K and the original discs till 69k so quite happy with that !
