PV Show is one of the highlights of every Vauxhall clubs calendar. PVS. For those that have never been before you're in for a treat.
The tickets have been placed in the post today, so when you receive them please add your name on this thread. Car passes will also be enclosed with your tickets, or car passes on their own if you missed our deadline and are sorting your own ticket out, also I have included details of the campsite if you are camping.
Times and Arrival
Gates open at 7am for club displays, 9am for general public. By then, there will be a queue to get in so be patient. Ideally you want to be in the queue for about 6.15am/6.30am. Make sure your car pass is displayed clearly as the gate marshals walk up and down the queue and usher display cars in ahead of general public. When you get to the pay booth, hand over your advance ticket or pay for an entry ticket if need one. Drive slowly down the entry road as a) you’ll get kicked out if you start practicing your drag racing starts, and b) there is usually a photographer photographing every car as they come in (you can buy prints later in the day)
Again, keep your car pass clearly displayed and look out for the various signs/marshals directing you. It’s a little overwhelming if you’ve never been before but don’t panic, you’ll soon be on the stand with the rest of the Vectra C / Signum gang. When you arrive at our stand, there should be two Parking Marshall who will direct you to a space. (These guys will probably be highly stressed so please be nice to them.) They will attempt to usher you into a parking spot, but you may be asked to shuffle around a few times until your car is correctly spaced.
Your cars
If you have never been before, you will be wondering what you do with your car. Basically it’s a static display with the option of taking your car up the strip, much like a regional meet you may have been to, but on a much larger scale. Most people like to give their cars a nice polish etc on the morning of the show. In fact, this is very much a part of ‘showing’ your car for a lot of members. At the very least, we would ask that your cars are clean.
Events for the day
For those that have never been before, PVS is packed with stuff to do. From the thousands of club cars to the drag strip action all day (which everyone can take part in). There are loads of Vauxhall only trade stands to spend your cash on too. We will be holding a Members’ Choice competition, where we ask you to vote for your favorite car on the stand, it can be a totally standard, but well cared for Vectra or Signum or a highly modified car, it is up to you.
Picnic
We are laying on a Picnic in the afternoon and it will cost £5 per adult and £2.50 per child, which will include soft drinks, but you might like to bring additional drinks. So if you want food, please put your name down on in this thread. There are plenty of fast food vans jotted around the display areas, but they are not cheap. Expect to pay at least £3.00 for a hot dog
Quarter mile strip
If you're planning on taking your car down the quarter mile strip don't forget to bring your driving license (both parts if you have a picture card), as without it you won't be able to run. I believe that if your car reaches 100mph in a quarter mile you'll need a helmet as well, but don't quote me, most of our cars will not qualify for a helmet though.
I hope that answers some questions, which have been asked, but if you require any further information please ask.
Look forward to seeing you all there and keep your fingers crossed that we have good weather.
