    Default Network Q question

Seen an Astra at a VX dealer on the Network Q site. Its a 55 reg 1.4 life a/c. It would be ideal for Mrs MLC. Thing is, it's 130 miles away. Would my local dealer be able to bring the car up here for viewing, or would I have to commit to the car first.

(And is the 1.4 a cambelt or chain. If a belt, what's the interval for change)

What the dealers normally do in this situation is ask for £100 deposit on the car, the deposit is not a commitment to buy as it is subject to viewing the car first, if you dont like it when the car is brought up you will get it back...this is how i bought my new facelift and my previous car.

Hmmm, When I asked about this with my dealer they had to buy the car from the other dealer and if I didn't want it then I would have to pay the transport costs.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

This is what I did with both of my Vectras, £150 on the first one, only £50 on the current one.

The 1.4 Astra is SERIOUSLY underpowered, so is the 1.6.
And this comes from a 1.8 Vec driver !

I think if its the same company, (Reg Vardy, Evans Halshaw etc) then they will need a small refundable deposit. But from another company you may have to pay a larger fee thats non refundable if you dont like it.

Been in to my local dealer and they were adamant that you could only buy from the suppling dealer. I might give them a ring, see what deal can be done and leave a deposit subject to seeing it (ensuring it's returnable)

As for it being a 1.4. It'll be nothing more than a shopping car/school run/to and from work for 'er indoors. Lack of power won't be an issue.

And does anyone know if it's belt or chain.

CHAIN I assume as the Opel 1.4 Sportshatch has a chain and the hatch will surely use the same engine. 90bhp is more than enough for the use the car will be put to.
