As above really, heard on the news that there is some backlash from MP's on this, do you think they will succeed in making the PM reverse another of his budget policies?

Also is it just me or are politicians really slow on the uptake here. I noticed that there would be a problem when the 10% band was being scrapped as soon as they announced it, but they only realised just before it was implemented. And now, this issue has been around for months, yet only now do they stop and think about it!

Yes some of the MP,s are revoltion ( you might say they all are) against the retrospective road tax. Lets hope that Darling geezer listens or I think they will definatly have shot themselves in the foot, mind I think they have done that already. People have just about had enough of all thier tax tax tax antics.

I think everybody's issue is with the backdating thing, not allowing people to make the choice before they bought the car they own!

A point to ponder. If they do cut the road tax and or fuel tax, what will they tax instead to make up for the duty they will have "LOST"

Thing is they have not started the retro tax, so what they did not get they would not have mussed yet? , I wonder what they had in mind wasting the LOADS of retro tax they would get on. No doubt it would be squandered on something that would not benifit the likes of us.

they could cut the expenditure by cutting a few of the civil service ' jobs for the boys' positions and stop trying to send our troops out round the world to clean up other folks mistakes..

Oh, and my favourite cost saving measure... get out of europe... we are one of the biggest EU contributors and travelling through europe as i do i can tell you that we're a 3rd world nation...need a new road?..the spanish have enough paid for by you and me....dirty hospital?..the EU have just built a new one on fuertaventura for the locals..well, you and I did....

Mr Brown may be thinking he made a mistake agreeing to the tax increases, he may now see that he was not informed properly about the increases, he may now see what a big impact these have on the average working family

Does that mean he'll make changes

    Of course not!!!!!

The problem is, al the other changes in the budget were worked out after they decided to raise fuel and road tax. I order to pay for any slim benefits we might have been given they will need to raise the tax another way. What is going to be next? Fresh air is probably the only thing that is not taxed yet.

What happened in Crewe and Nantwich has been some kind of wake up call. The back bench MP's aren't concerned about how much out of pocket we'll be if this RFL policy goes through or not, they are all far more concerned for their jobs... period.
Unless something is done to ease the financial burden by this government, and it is done quickly, there will be a lot of Labour MP's looking for new careers.
Don't be blinkered into thinking your local Labour MP actually cares about your welfare, if things were a little more rosy for us all financially, there would be no talk of reversing the RFL policy.
All these people care about..... is themselves
