Default New windscreen - rain sensor

Had my new windscreen fitted by Autoglass today. Looks smart. However the rain sensor doesn't look as though it is fully stuck to the screen if you know what I mean. Looks like a gel with air bubbles. Anyone else with a new screen had this? It works OK because the fitter tested it with a spray.

    Thanks

You got a pic? The sensor comes attached to the windscreen from the factory so if it's not right then it's a manufacturing fault, as opposed to a fitment fault by AutoGlass.

He used the old sensor, will try and post a pic. The new screen is a Pilkington, not a GM

Thats why then. They are air bubbles as he has just stuck it back on.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Pic attached :

I know they're air bubbles but can the sensor be applied any better to achieve a flush finish? Other owners must have experienced something similar.

TBH I would only have let them fit a vx screen with it already attached as they usually break them.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I'm tempted to do that, is it that simple? Don't want to break anything...

I asked about a GM screen, was told I would have to pay a premium on top of the excess.

Surely that cannot be right - why should you have pay more a for a specification that is dictated by GM. Surely it should be like for like.

That's just it, it's not "like for like" as such. Neither Autoglass or RAC use OE screens.

RAC manufacture their own and Autoglass use various branded ones. The GM ones on the Vectra are actually a mix of Splintex, St Gobain and Pilkington.

I'm pleased with the screen, it's a Pilkington which IS OE on various cars incl the Vectra. All that's missing is the GM logo. Just not too pleased with the air bubbles.
