    Default Warranty Question

I have just left my vectra in to the garage to get a service, the garage just phoned me saying I needed new brake pads all round and said it would be £200 all in. I said thatís ok and to go ahead with it,

But when I got off the phone I remembered that my car is still in warranty. Should I be getting charged for this?

It depends how old the car is, what warranty and vehicle mileage.

That prices seems expensive for brake pads.

    EDIT:

Just looked at your profile, and your car was registered in 2006, so coming up to 2 years old.

If you bought it from new, then the brake pads will not be covered. If you bought it S/H with Network Q warranty still in force, then it may well be covered.

Give us some info to work on and we can advise better.

you are out of manufacturers warranty due to the mileage over 60K anyway.

The price of brake pads non OE, but good ones is less than £50 for all four corners. Cost of a local garage to fit would be a lot less than what VX quoted.

Up to you mate, but I'd be cancelling their order, if you know what I mean. And why are you getting it serviced at VX too? You clearly got too much money.......

Get it done by an independant, it's MUCH cheaper and probably better done too. Even if it was still in manufacturers warranty, there are EU laws that prevent VX rejecting warranty claims as long as the correct schedule has been adhered to, with OE (or equivalent) parts, and done at a VAT registered place.

    cheers ste

too much money is something i dont have! thats why im trying to figure out whats going on, they are only charging £130 for the service, i thought this was decent enough as my last service on my astra was about £210 and this was done at a local garage! i went to VX this time cause i have just moved up to Belfast and havent found any decent local garages about yet!!!!

    not good!

You don't need to use Barley water in your washers.

    Normal tap water is OK.
