Default My new toy - Karcher foam lance

I'm new to car detailing, but already picked up a few tips on here.

Spent a couple of hours washing and waxing today (weather's been quite good but very windy in Manchester).

For the last few weeks, been using turtle wash/wax with a bucket of warm water, then polishing using traditional turtle wax.

But today I got a new toy from Halfords - karcher foam lance (£14.99) and turtle wax wash/wax foam (£8.99).

The lance is much easier to use now than going round with a bucket and sponge, and the results seem far better too. Only problem is that the foam doesn't stay on the car for long at all - disappears in about 30 secs so you have to just foam the part of the car you're washing then repeat on the next section. I think I'll try snow foam next time.

Finished off with color magic (not sure if anyone else here recommends it or not) but seemed to produce a good result.

Anyway, a pic of today's efforts is now in my profile.

Off for a drink now. Pity I've got work tomorrow!

I put about an inch of snow foam, a finger of Zymol shampoo and top it up with warm water. This helps the foam cling for about 5 mins. Still not as good as a proper foam lance but it works for me.

Very good finish, your never going to get snowfoam from a karcher bottle however. I tried, it just wont work. You need a proper nozzle, much more fun. I think some waxes last better than others but ive never seen a poor finish just waxed. A lot of wax snobbery on here - colour majic is crap cause its cheap views. I think its very good on a black car and I have and use some expensive waxes as well. If it leaves the car looking like that you cant complain, top job, lovely car.
