    Default diesel tuning advice

hi just in the middle of buying my first vectra c. its a 1.9cdti 150bhp. i work at vauxhall dealer so drive them regularly and no there fairly quick as standard but would like to be gettin nearer 200bhp. i have read about tuning boxes in magazines could anyone tell me which would be the one to buy and how much power gain i could see and what performance figures would expect. would a tuninig box affect fuel consumption much. also would a decat see much power increase. thanks for any help

If you want nearer 200bhp, then try and source a 3.0 V6 CDTI
Advantages include reliability and a refined engine
Typically same price as the 1.9 CDTI as demand is very low (company car tax too high), so haggle hard if a dealership has both available, I did so and paid the £1000 less than the equivalent 1.9 CDTI

You called m8 For value and performance it can't be beaten. Yes there is the BSR remap, various digital tuning boxes, custom remaps etc. but for £/bhp increase they are stunning

'Decats' don't usually make a difference on diesels. Also the 'cat' is helping to save 'your' planet!

I'm sure that we'd all like to be rid of our EGR's,DPF's and Catalytic converters, but they are put there to do a job.Although sometimes I think that the extra journeys to the 'stealers' to have them fixed, completely wipes out any advantages of having them on in the first place!

Exactly how do these boxes work and how is the bhp gain obtained?

Is this box your invention or have you anything to do with it?

    Vehicle : Vectra cdti estate

    Trim : Get a

    Engine : Dirty diesel

    Year : 2006

    Default

120 cdti running 167.5 bhp and 242 lb ft torque with a £50.00 caterman box..need say no more

caterman found the boxes on e-bay other than that it is just it's ''pet'' name so to speak, they are not made by him cos if they were he would be a godzilionair by now....
they trick the ECU into giving more fuel iirc and more fuel = more power fuel consumption is affected by the right foot metrhod....the more you plant it hard the less mpg you get, our's is still averaging 550 - 600 miles per tank

    cracking find by him though

I was requesting a more technical "How does it" whether in increase/decreases certain aspects of the engine or something alike.

Then again perhaps this information is not currently available.
