    Default Car won't start.....

    Morning troops,
Tried to start the car this morning to go on dayshift...wouldn't start...last thing I needed at 10 miutes to 5 I can tell you!
Anyway, back to the problem, when I put the keys in and turn them there is a symbol coming up on the dashboard display, it's a car with a padlock through it. The locks and windows etc are working ok with the buttons on the fob but the car won't even turn over, I'm guessing it's the immobiliser but not sure. Would flattish batteries on the key fob cause this?
Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

edit..I should nave said the car is a 52 plate, the first "C" model, not the facelift version
    Cheers fellas
    Billy.

It sounds like the imoboliser to me too, but I don,t know how you will get round it. I wonder if disconecting the battery for half an hour or so might help. Do all the lights work, "you do have a fully charged battery".?

Not sure about the lights mate but the battery is good. I had to get a taxi to work this morning and the driver said his missus had the same motor as me, she had to reset the key sometimes to get the car to start? seems a bit iffy to me to be doing that a few times
Also how do I reset the key as well?
Totally useless with modern technology me....

To reset the key, you need to put it in the ignition turn it on so the ignition lights are on but don,t start the engine, Then press one of the buttons on the key fob, if it has reset the key the door button should pop up and down. I have had to do this a few times on my wifes Vectra B.

Just tried the button scenario, when I turn the key then hold the unlock button down the problem clears then the car starts fine, when I stop the car I have to go through the same routine to start it again.

    hi
i think he is telling the codes for a faulty cim module (the thing you put your key in when you start your car)
the dtc is a code reader for faults on the car(plugs into the socket underneath the center ash tray)
    hope this help
