    Default Greetings from Dorset

    Hi all,

I just stumbled across your forum whilst searching for a sexy grille for my wagon - thanks to your recommendations and photos the postie should be bringing me a nice Irmscher item with the ally strip sometime next week . So far all I've done is fit some new floor mats to replace the dealer branded items supplied with the car (that rubber material that turns to dust after about a week - nice) and a boot floor liner - £50 for a glorified seedtray is not money well spent IMHO.

Seems like a lively forum; I've spent most of the evening reading your tips and tricks for styling enhancements - somewhat addictive. Oh no, have I missed Eurovision? Damn. Hadn't thought of de-badging previously but now that is a distinct possibility as I have the bug and tar spray and some label remover in the garage. Best use of a Matalan card that I've ever heard of BTW. In the dim and distant past I used to read Custom Car / Street Machine and the like but never really cottoned onto the 'Max Power' generation of modifying (I refuse to say 'modding').

Bought my '05 pre-facelift Vectra Elite in December last year with a mere 1800 miles on the clock - one elderly owner, probate, etc. and just 100 miles since the service one year before. Had been looking at Mazda 6s for the sake of being different but so glad I found this Vectra.

So now I'm back in the Vauxhall fold after five years of deviancy running a Renault Megane Sport Coupe 2.0 16V- thoroughly impractical and somewhat unreliable in the electrics department but still jolly good fun when it was working - never trust a main dealer who recommends £300 worth of replacement sensors when a simple reseating of the ECU connector will suffice. It's still on the forecourt six months after trade-in so glad I didn't try to sell it privately!

Previous motoring history reads thus; Viva HC, Mustang, Magnum (a scrapper that I never got running), Viva HC (bought house, no money, so Mustang not the best form of transport for a pauper), Cavalier Mk.2 LX hatch, Maestro (we all make mistakes, although it has to be said not that many people make quite such a big mistake), Cavalier Mk.3 L saloon and the Renault. Still have the Rover V8s in the garage that I wanted to put in the Viva! I also run a bike for commuting and scaring myself at weekends hence reverting to a sensible and comfortable car.

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm running out of beer so I'll bid you all farewell. I look forward to reading more of your posts, and following some of the links and seeing some of the pictures previously denied to a non-member. You never know, I might even make some intelligent contribution to the threads.

    TTFN.
