    Default gears

    the motor is playing up again lol ....very hard to get into first or second (manual)....is there a hydraulic baring in the clutch? and if so any1 know a price to have this done??? its a 03 2.0 dti

    ye its a hydrolic relaese bearing its not cheep about 100 quid for the bearing on its own plus the labour to fit book time 5 to 6 hours not a cheap job

    it is combined in with the brake fluid reservoir...

    TBH, if it is just 1st and 2nd thats hard to engage, and 3rd and 4th can be easily 'got' from stationary, then it points more to linkage alignment than a failing release cylinder..

    by all means bleed the release cylinder ( same technique as bleeding brakes) , but if it's just 1st/2nd then i'd get the linkage looked at..

    This may confuse you, it did me; the following a boxes for the 2.0 diesel as listed in the Haynes. 2.0 has a F23WR (WR I think is wide ratio). The F17 is for 1.8 petrol and the F40 is for 1.9 diesel. Also inside these boxes you have a range of differing ratios, for instance the F17 comes in both WR and CR(close ratio) versions.
