    Default Vectra Towbar Removal

    Morning all,

I'm not sure if this is posted in the correct section, but can anyone give me some advice on removing the towbar from my 54 plate Vectra SRi?

The car came with the official Vx item (detachable, with electrics) but I never tow anything so I figure it'll look better without the bar and I might even make a couple of quid.

I've no experience with towbars at all really - has anything been removed to fit it (except a section of the lover bumper...). Will I need to Tech2 the car to take the bar off?

    Will post photos later.

    Cheers!

you will have to take the inner lining in the boot out there at each side you will see two plates with bolts going through.if you follow them to the underside of the car you will see were the nuts go on (you might have to drop the exhaust to get access, and possible the back bumper)the four bolts should come out allowing the bar frame to drop.take the two plates orf the top and slide the whole bar frame towards the back of the car.the electrics should unplug from just inside the boot(thats if the tow-bar was done with proper vx wiring loom)there should be four hollow bars that go through the holes in the boot which the long bolts slide through remaove them and fill the holes.hope this makes sense and helps

Smashing; I'll see if I can have a look at this over the weekend.

This is the towbar itself; assume we're talking about the same item??

I thought the vx one didn't need any cutting to the bumper? are you sure it's a vx one? Don't want to be cutting my bumper insert.

Hmmm, no I'm not then in that case... Has the GM stamp on the electrics, so I just kind of assumed to be honest. No experience at all with towbars I'm afraid...

Lofty -> then you have to change to the Irmscher rear lowerskirt.. there you can have a insert. but if dont want that. then you need a non removable towbar.. (the removable does need cutting)

Thats a VX bar alright.. the blue plate is attached to the bar and it's an identifier plate..

does ride very high thou..the removeable one's normally have a deeper swanneck to clear that skirt..
