Ouch! Changing light bulbs.

Some time ago, I replaced my dip beam bulbs with Philips Vision plus,as I wasn't impressed with the originals. This was hard enough, and my knuckles looked like I'd been in a 6-round punch-up. I'd like to do the same with the main beams, but I just can't get my hand in, because someone's stuck a ****** great diesel engine in the way!
Has anyone here ever managed to change a main beam bulb on a V6 CDTi? And, whle I'm on the subject, has anyone ever managed to get to the levers to adjust the headlights for continental use? I can't! I know I've got huge paws, but I just can't get my hand in there.........

levers for continental use? where are they? im taking thecar to norway in august and that would be good!

According to the handbook, they're under the cover which goes over the back of the dip bulb. (The oval one) I can't get to 'em, though........

It's not just the V6 Phil. They're a complete ba***rd to get into on mine as well. I think it's the driver's side (from memory) that's the worst. I have changed a bulb on both sides, it is possible. You may need to solicit the services of someone with slender hands if your Oliver Twists won't fit in!! LOL

I have also managed to switch the levers to adjust for foreign use and they are even worse. I don't have small hands so I skinned them somewhat!!

Andy, have a shufty in your manual - it covers the continental thing there. Very useful as it negates the need for those silly convertor stickers.

Well, I'm off to France for a few days next week, so I might have another go. It's almost as bad as my Octavia, where you only adjust the Xenon lights by taking th efront of the car off!

IIRC I had to stand sideways to the front of the car, to allow me to get my arm/elbow/wrist at the right angle to flick the damn things!!

BTW - make sure you read the manual carefully to ensure you flick the right levers (there are two each side iirc) the right way. I had to read it a couple of times just to get it in my head what they were meaning!!
