    Default Locking nut problem?

Tried to take off my front wheel today, and the locked nut socket has shamfered off so it won't grip the nut.

    What do I do now?

I dont have a number for it?

hi mate. Had exactly the same problem! They're ****! Took mine to vaux and they had to get it specially cut. It was the cross shape, slightly rounded. They had plenty of the star and other ones. I did hear that halfords do something that you screw on and it cuts into and grips the bolt. I'm on my phone so will try and reply with it if i can find it! Other options are get it cut out with an air chisel, weld something on you can grip, or use a very decent set of mole grips!

you just need something like Snap-on's 'ripper' sockets.... use a 3/4" / 19mm one on the VX bolts... mine cost £20 from snap-on and works every time..

I had the same problem the other day. Bought one of them sockets from halfords (well, they come in a pack of 2 different sizes) they were only a tenner and they did their job.

Do what my id to mine.....you will need a mate in a garage, spot weld a normal wheel bolt onto the end of the lock bolt and then spin off with the air gun, you wil get a very small burn mark on the edge of the bolt hole on the wheel, but was cheaper than buying a tool and the majority of the burn mark came off with a brillo pad (sometimes they dont)! I have had to do this to my last vectra and the astra I had before and the Vx lock bolts and cack! hope this helps!

    Bye bye Vec B
