    Yet another one !

But I wanted to share what I thought was good.

Went to fill up last night, had done 498 miles on the tankful, the fuel light was on but not flashing when i got to the pump. I managed to get 52.5 litres in it and it was full.

    So, 498 / 52.5 = 9.486 miles / litre x 4.545 = 43.1 miles / gallon. The best i've ever had.

Not bad for a petrol, very mainly motorway driving.

really I shouldn't reply as I'm a diesel owner (see thread title, lol) but I get mid-high 400s from mine. I do mainly dual carriageway driving, most at circa 70mph . I can only get the HIGH figures if I sit at 60mph and drive like Miss Daisy.
Then again, I think the 120bhp diesel is lugging too much weight around (especially estates like mine with loaded boot), similar to the way the 1.8 can be a touch underpowered.

I can get over 350 miles from a full tank in my GSi. And that is a combination of town driving, motorways and faster rural roads.

Am I driving too slowly? I am careful but not that careful.

On the motorway, I have seen an average of over 38mpg numerous times. It is showing 29mpg right now, again, over various different types of roads.
