Back from the dealers

Got my car back from the dealers after 6 days today. Been diagnosed with the known problem of coolant contaminating the auto. New gearbox and radiator fitted under VX extended warranty (following previous problems).
Also had an advisory on first MOT of uneven tyre wear, and asked them to look at knocking from rear suspension and 'grinding' noise under braking whilst the car was in.
They fitted new front brake pads and went round the entire front and rear suspension tightening everything up and greasing where necessary.
Car was taken to local tyre dealers for full suspension alignment. Apparently the guy took the whole afternoon setting the suspension, balancing the wheels swapping them back to front, rebalancing etc and they still only charged the standard £60.
What a bl**ding difference that lot made. Car is now completely different, gear changes are as sweet and smooth as anything. No knocks anywhere from the suspension and the car handles so much better. Only driven to and from work today (50 mile round trip) and got 30mpg instead of my normal 27, and that included a couple of instances of 'testing the vehicles capabilities'. Only fault I could mention was a Corsa 1.2 manual as a 'courtesy' car. Apart from that well pleased!

Not sure exactly - just said they had tightened and greased everything.
Will have a look underneath at the weekend as it's f.....freezing outside at the mo.

As capriman, I'd be interested in knowing exactly what they did as I've also got a bit of a knocking noise that I can't work out what it is. Dealer couldn't find anything but I know something isn't right. Difference between driving it every day and dealer taking it for a short test drive!
