position of bikes when carrying on roof of car?

as above, is it ok to have one the opposite way to the other cos im sure the handle bars will catch each other. ????????

Yep, not a problem, and obviously as long as the carrier system allows that configuration. Some folks carry them facing the same way and some opposite ways to accommodate straight bars fouling. All that's important is that each one is suitably secured.

cheers duncan, the main thing is safety in my opinion.

should be quite safe with the set-up i have now.

genuine dealer roof bars (oval) and a pair of thule 591 carriers.
