    Default Insurance Company Help Required

So, when I fitted my alloys to the car (2months ago) I called the insurance company at the time and they put the premium up by £225.

I have just tried to have this out with them and they are not playing ball.

They are standard vx alloys that were and option on the LS Vectra. The car comes out of the factory with steel wheels on as standard - so they are def an option.

They claim that there is no way of proving that these were an option fitted to the car when it was purchased and as such there is no way to ensure they are the corrct alloy for the vehicle.

£225 extra for vx alloys is crazy - its not like because I have fitted alloys it increases the chances of an accident. They claim it makes the car more attractive and so the policy must be increased.

Totally p!$$ed off now, wish I hadnt called them and just suffered the increase.

But if anyone has seen this before or has advice, its very welcome.

    Cheers

i would take my no claims and whatever refund owed to me,and go and get a quote from a different insurer and say the alloys were already on when bought as they are an option!!
threaten to leave them sometimes you would be surprise what comes out of threating to leave a company (worth a try).
i certainly would not be paying an extra £225 on my i insurance just because i put a set of standard rims on

Darren I would get a few quotes from other companys first but I would be honest with them because most dated is shared between ins companys

No way I would pay £225 extra for vx alloys

You may not get a refund, I was ripped off by Budget, when I traded the vxr in they would not insure the leon, or refund my remaining 3 months cover which was enough to pay for a whole year on the leon with another comany !... lesson learnt, always read the small print ...

(Adrian flux refused to give me cover for the vxr btw )

Adrian Flux have a sensible attitude to premium adjustments on modifications.

Im with Adrian Flux - they are really helpful and only charged me an additional £39 to put a DTUK green box on my car - others wanted over £200 !
Chris Knott is also another good insurer for modded cars..

Cheers for the info guys/gals, I will be shifting to another insurance company when mine renews later in the year. Adrian Flux might be worth a shot I guess, based on what I hear.
