Default Brake Light Cable colour ???

I need to know the colour of the cable that powers the rear brake lights. not the ones actually wired to the brakes, but the ones that come on with the parking lights. e.g the ones that are always on when the parking lights are on.

Does anybody know what colour this is ?

Also I'm going to power a reverse camera from this source, is this ok, or is it a no no ?

This is probably not a good idea, for a couple of reasons.

    1. The bulb failure detection system is pretty sensitive, and any extra load will prabably cause the computer to think the bulb has failed.
    2. The bulb doesn't receive the full 12V. Both the brake and tail lights are the same bulb type. When used as a brake light, the full 12V is applied, when used as a tail light, a reduced voltage is used.

This is just a guess, but there's probably 12V going to the rear electronics module that you could tap into. Not sure whether this might cause other problems though...

The rear electronics module is the computer that controls your tail lights, rear demister, rear wiper, etc. It's in the back left of the car, accesible through the boot.

I don't know whether using the number plate lights will cause problems. Sorry.
