    Hi Vectrahuw,

Excellent car, I've been driving a 2.2DTI for the last 2 years and have had it remapped at EDS (Germany). This is my 4th Vectra, and it's the best so far. I would check for the following if I where you:

    1. Turbo hose, running from turbo to intercooler. Old models of this hose tend to develop a hole, please see the picture for the exact location. Costs to replace is €160 + fitting + tax.

    2. Check for leaking oil pressure switch. Replacement is about €10,- + fitting (15 minutes) + tax.

    3. Leaking intercooler. The intercooler has two plastic bits on the outside which are attached to the turbo hoses. The place where these plastic bits attach to the intercooler metal part might start to leak. This can be detected by looking for dark oily stains near the seam between plastic and metal. You have to look from under the car up on the inside of the intercooler.

    4. Check the oil level. It should still be close to MAX given the major service in March. It's exceptional, but my car consumes about 0,25 per 50.000Km. I don't expect every 2.2DTI to be like this, but it should not consume to much.

    5. Get the car up and have an independent expert check the car from bottom to top. The engine should not be excessively leaking, check the oil pressure switch!

The picture showing the location of the possible turbo hose leak:

Cheers and lot's of fun buying this car! I can recommend this model ...
    Hans

I think they are trying to compensate for the expensive turbo replacement that they've done. Oh, just forgot: Check the rear shocks. Older type shocks started to leak over time. Maybe they got replaced before?

    Cheers,
    Hans

Mine is a 2.2 DTI.I bought it 7 months ago for 3300£ at 120K. It's a good drive but of course like many others I have the "limp mode" problem. It is a huge improvement though since I've done a sofware update. And now I got used to it. When I feel it's about to go in limp mode I just go from 5th gear into 4th and it OK.

I had a split boost hose and replaced for the upgraded version for £120. I would recommend doing this wether you need to or not. Never had any other problems, it went through a stage of liking the limp home mode but that seems to of stopped and not happened for about 6 months now. Only other thing i would check that Hans hasnt already mentioned is the clips holding the bottom intercooler pipe on (The one before the intercooler), i had a few problems with it as it kept coming loose. I replaced it with a heavy duty one and its not budged since.

Hans whats the eds map like on the dti? and wolf, how much did the software update cost?

    Hi Mugualigwian,

The EDS map on the 2.2DTI is superb! It turns an already powerful car into a beast and fuel consumption goes down quiet a bit. On the rolling road at EDS it went from 125Bhp to 160Bhp as a result. Torque changed from 213lbs/ft (290 Nm) to 266lbs/ft (360Nm) and that's something you really notice. Afterwards I noticed that it got remapped with a faulty turbo hose (the famous hole) installed and power might even exceed these figures after having it replaced.

Well after the remap I've fitted a front bumper with a larger air dam, I've fitted the quad Irmscher exhaust and replaced the intercooler. All of which made it either more powerful (noticeable) or gave it a more linear behaviour (consistent pull) when letting the beast out. All in all, I expect to have gained about 5-7Bhp as a result. I still need to visit EDS again someday (3 hour drive) to see what I ended up with.

What's with the limp mode that got discussed here? I do not recognize this as being one of the standard 2.2DTI problems. I do know that Opel installed new software (the latest back then) to the ECU right after its first service to overcome some turbo boost problem under heavy loads. Fortunately, they did so before the EDS remap, so EDS has remapped the latest version of this software. I have never had these kinds of problems to be honest.

    Cheers,
    Hans

Cheers Hans, ive been looking into a remap but dont know which is best for the dti engines. The dreaded limp mode is where all the power cuts out and you get the spanner on the dash
