Default When Is A 'Vauxhall Vectra' Not A Vauxhall But An Opel ( A Vx Fleet Car Thing )

.....apprently when Vauxhall buy them for Fleet cars. Even though its Vauxhall badged every where and I know the last owner was Vx Fleet apperntly they import Opels from Island as its cheeper on tax ? ( This is what I was told by a dealer today ??? )

I've been having loads of probs getting the right paint for my car ( Peacock ) because the UK paint code delivers bright orange !!!!

Now I'm not sure if this is a line but the guy pointed out the Opel wording on my door plate ( I didnt think any of that been that you see this on loads of stuff inc behin the dash etc ) but he says hes seen this before and heard about it as well..... seems plausable - just wondered what you guys thought.

Regarding the paint code, you could try POGO, he had a Peacock.

wheres Island? Ireland you mean?? If so I doubt it, I know importing cars from Southern Ireland into Northern ireland used to be big business especially with currency differences the pound vs the punt and then lately the euro. But now the taxes on new Southern ireland cars are unreal much worse than than the UK.

Arent all vectras made in Russelheim so they will all have opel inside the door?

All the Russelheim cars have Opel on the sticker on the B pillar, and surely if they were an import from Southern Ireland then you would have to declare them as a non UK car to your insurance.

I know mine was a VX fleet car and my paint code matches with the correct one on the uk system.

So they've changed the steering wheel air bags then?
I mean of course in order to show a vx badge?
All sounds a bit of a hassel, and more like an expensive cover up job, going to those lengths including debadging and rebadging?
If yours is definately an OPEL,get the right grill, sort the airbag, and centre wheel caps, tell your insurance and be proud of your Opel Vectra

all vectra's are opels all made in the opel factorys and then badged as vauxhalls when the badges are fitted on the line . . . some times a car is delivered to the dealer with opel badges and they change them before the car is sold this is normal as the car may have been ment for a opel market but was needed / sold in the uk it is still a uk car and is still a vauxhall ..sometimes "people" do or did import opels from over seas and rebadge them, alot of car super market cars are found to be this way .if the cars are imported you find them mostly comeing from cyprus and japan ..if a dealer is found bying cars and selling them as vx's they may loose there francise so they dont do it .. .

So people dont think I'm a nutter.... I posted because I'm not convinced. I mean the hassle of Vxing it from a Opel must be worse.

Still - we'll see what happerns.
