    Default Unbelievable

Driving to work this morning at about half 6 on a country lane, a guy comes round the corner at high speed halfway across my lane, gives my driver wing mirror an all mighty whack with his.

So much so the glass fell out and has severely cracked. Luckily it didn't drop to the road.

Pulled over about 5 mins later and it slotted back in okay and there was no damage to the wing mirror itself, adjusted it using the electrics which appear to be working okay and drove off.

After another 5 mins or so glanced over at my passenger mirror and it had moved, strange I thought, re-adjusted it and carried on. Bit further on needed to adust the driver mirror slightly again, glanced over at the passenger mirror and it was moving at the same time.

    The questions:-

    1. How much does a new piece of glass cost for the mirror, and is it as simple as just buying one and putting it in.

    2. Will the fault of adjusting the passenger mirror at the same time fix itself when the driver mirror is fixed.

    3. Do I need to get the mirror glass from VX or can I source one from anywhere else and cheaper

    Cheers

I know Halfrauds do mirror glass replacements. Dunno if they're cheaper than Vaux tho'.

The passenger side does adjust at the same time for some reason. There is another thread somewhere.

i'd go for that, as a passenger side one from halfords cost me £8 and that just sticks over the cracked orginal glass.

Passenger side will adjust at the same time as driver side.

Driver side does not adjust at the same time as passenger side.

If you are setting your wing mirrors then always set the driver side first!

I guess the idea is the same as what I use it for - leave the switch set to driver side and when parking just point it down and both mirrors go down.

Am pretty sure thought that it never did this before, or have I just never noticed.

What is the point of having the selector buttons for passenger side, and driver side if they move together anyway

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Mine does it, just checked.

When selected drivers mirror, passengers mirror moves. Up and down are in sync, BUT left to right is reversed. ie when moving drivers to the right, the passenger moves left. Both move 'out' or 'in' together.

    Quite clever really.
