High Fuel Prices 'v' MPG

Just wondered, apart from the obvious like Servicing and System cleaners, and better driving, what is the best way to increase MPG with the ever increasing fuel costs?

Although my car seems to be averaging 33-36'ish around town, it still seems to run out quite quick.

I tried one of these "ebay fuel savers" on my last petrol car, to be honest I think it made it worse, and wouldnt even risk it on the CDTI 120 engine!

Really, just drive better, change gear lower in the rev range. Common sense stuff really.

I'd say drive slower

If you are only getting 33-36ish around town from a CDTi 120 then you have a problem m8, i get that from my 3.0 V6 CDTi

It rarely goes down to 33, usually hovers around 36 when I reset, but I usually just leave it on instant. I dont really thrape it much, just the usual 6-8 mile drive to and fro work everyda, dont get to floor with the traffic. Maybe thats what it needs?

I'm exactly the same as well I have just purchased Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 Twin Pack after reading a huge thread about and people were swearing by it, my tanks almost finished so I'm gonna give it test soon.

Am seriously considering an LPG conversion on my Vec.
There is a very reputable firm near me that do very good conversions and use the latest sequential systems.
A guy at work has just had his Volvo estate done, works out to his Volvo doing 50mpg.
Another mate of mine booked in his Subaru Forester yesterday to be converted. Again it will work out equivalent to 50-55mpg.
Guy at the garage has said that after 22'000 miles the system on the vec would have paid for itself, which for me is about 12-14 months time.

I have done some digging on LPG and basically the max tax inflation is going to 1p per year until 2013. Then it still looks as though tax incentives will be offered as it is a green fuel. Either way it is still going to be a darn sight cheaper than petrol/diesel.
I hate to think what a litre of petrol will cost in 5 years time!

I would recommend LPG mate ...mine was all ready fitted when i bought the car and I can say I comfortable get between 55-60mpg. Touch would no probs and its great filling up for about £17 lol

Thats interesting. Is yours a factory fit job or has it been done after??

I had a few concerens about how the conversion might affect the OBC but the guy at the garage assures me that it wont matter at all.

Out of interest what size engine you got? Do you notice any reduction in power at all on LPG?

Sorry kind of hijacked the thread but hey it's an option to increase your MPG!
