Spybot search & destroy might be a better option for getting rid of spyware.. you can get it to run at boot so it searches & finds all those nice little programs that get on your nerves.. its also free

So far I have found this free Anti-Spyware product is actually slightly better than Ad-Aware or the other common ones:-

    http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/

It's called A Squared Free Edition.

Also, what are you running operating system wise?.

    XP or Vista?.

Download one of the above and install it.

    Don't scan straight away.

You need to turn off System Restore first, in your Control Panel. Otherwise, after the scan has been run anything detected may still lurk in the Windows System Restore files.

So turn that off, then restart the PC.

When you restart, you want to start in "Safe Mode". Do this by either following the on screen prompts whilst your PC starts or simply tap or hold down F8 while Windows is booting up.

Once the PC is up and running in Safe Mode, then you can run your scan.

If you don't run the scan in Safe Mode, there's a chance that whatever malware is causing the problem will be running in the background quietly. Anti-spyware software has problems sometimes if this is the case, so run and scan in Safe Mode.

Let us know how you get on.

I personally fix computers for friends and i have found the best way of removing spyware is to download 'spybot search and destroy' from here:-

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

    also avg 8 from here:-
    http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe

Also go to 'start' on your computer and up to 'run'

Type in 'msconfig'(without the quotes) and click on startup box.

Untick any boxes other than your antivirus and firewall.

Then go to 'services' .Click on 'hide microsoft services'.

Untick any boxes that are not your antivirus or firewall.
    Click 'apply' and reboot.

Another excellent free program is Trojan remover' from here:-
    http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/download.html

If all these 3 programs says its clear then thats the best you can do.

    Regards
