It sounds to me if they are just charging you an hours labour to do!!
Find a local garage that will do it cheaper!!

Why don't you do what i did and wait for the next service to enable them. I fitted my headlamp washers and needed tech2 to enable them. The car was serviced for £120 and i asked the masterfit guy to enable them when he was connected to tech2 for my service, as they have to do to update software and retrieve fault codes etc...

Suppose it all depends when your service is due?

Sorted now Gary cheers. Bl00dy suffered pal, horrendous pain and not much releive from tablets. Chiros and plenty of walking has done me good.

one of the bills I was given from Lookers in Blackburn was billed as
carry out general checking procedures 30.00
    comms & voltage check 06.00
    tech2 test diag/prog ecu 06.00
    carry out tech2 diagnosis 60.00
replace steering column module (simm) 42.00
total labour 144.00 + parts and vat

came to stupid figure but luckly vauxhall coffed up price of new simm(231.00)
so i think some peoples dealers are cheap for tech2

plus its in today for rear window programing and air bag light on so we will see what they try and charge this time
