hesistation/flatness on its own i would have put down to the above or possibly maf.. But misfiring sounds like either partially blocked injectors (try injector cleaner) or the pump or pump timing is wrong/faulty

best bet is a diesel injection specialist to prove the pump/pump timing..

dodgy cam sensor ( on the pump) would affect the running as well as it would remove the timing signal..

other than advising you to very carefully check all the vacumn hoses and thier rubber connectors, boost hoses for leaks etc and to check all the wiring it looks like it'll need plugging in to identify the fault

checked all hoses no splits or cracks, noticed the throtle body was restricted with a buld up of oilly carbon deposits so removed and cleaned, then inlet manifold was same so again removed and cleaned and same with butterflies.rebuilt it all with fingers crossed........ but now she wont even start turning over but not firing, cracked off a couple of fuel pipes from injectors and no sign of fuel ! is this looking more and more like the pump ? or could there be a faulty sensor somewhere not telling the pump to supply fuel ?

it'll start and turn even if it won't fire no matter whats wrong with the fuelling side..

hows the battery on the car?.. plenty of voltage in it? they have been known to fail very suddenly..hows the leads etc etc..

to avoid having a wild goose chase around the car, i strongly recommend getting someone out to it with a GOOD code reader ( not a £50 ebay special) which will be able to diagnose the fault.

when you say you cleaned the butterflys, do you mean the lower butterflys?.. if so, did you remove the 4 pump lines from the back of the pump to split the lower intake casting to access them?...

thats the one, i removed the fuel pipes to allow the bottom half of the throttle body to be removed and cleaned. there is a sensor in the throttle body, am i correct to asume this read the amount of air passing through the throttle body ? will this give info to the ecu to tell the pump how much fuel to put in ? could this be a faulty sensor and givivg the ecu no reading to allow fuel to be pumped in ? is there any way of checking this sensor ? sorry about all the ?????? but im trying to get my head around how the fuel injection works. and hoping for anything to be wrong except the pump ! cheers all.
