    confused Cam chain / belt?

    Hi there,
I recently purchased an 05 plate Vectra Elite 150. Not being particularly hot on engine mechanics etc, I was wondering if somebody can let me know if it has a chain or belt? Also, what is the service interval for the chain/belt.
Just had 100,000 mile service and can't find anything in the service book about any cam belts/chains being replaced - the stealers didn't mention anything except the rear brake pads.
I think only the oil and rear pads were replaced on the 100,000 mile service.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Enjoying the drive....worlds away from my old Fiesta 1.25!

    Rob.

Its a belt mate, they did spec them at 80k changes, and now reduced them to a more sensible 40k changes.

    Thanks for the quick response.
I think I'll get it done for my peace of mind at least.
Get water pump replaced at the same time?

Anything else I should look out for?

yes for sure, for the extra bit of money it costs it'd be silly not too. make sure all the tensioners are replaced too, should be part of the cambelt kit. Not sure what else to look out for not seen any with 100k on it yet! Have you got a years warranty with it?

Have a look in the service book if you have one to see who serviced it before you had it, you can then ring and ask if it's had a belt or not cos it should be on the computer records if they did it, if the car is an ex repper get a new belt anyway.
