Default Was hit by something on the m6 yesterday

Was cruising on the way back from bristol yesterday, everything going fine until about junction 12 on the m6, then suddenly out of nowhere, this almighty thud, and the outer laminate on my windscreen shattered!.. scared the living daylights outta me! weird thing was, there was nothing for a good 200mtrs in front, couldn't see what it was as it was dark!

gonna take 3 days for a replacement to be fitted

anyone else had this happen to them?

One of them underpants moments. Had it happen in the works van but never in my car (touch wood). You weren't going under any bridges at the time were you?

I was driving down the M6 once at Knutsford under the airport flight path, and in the middle lane a piece of ice crashed to the ground and shattered. Luckily there were no vehicles under it.

As there was no bridge either the only thing it could have come from was the plane above

i've had it in a mates car around 11:30pm coming from blackpool.
but we ran over something (couldn't see it coz of dark) and blew out the rear tyre. pulled over, looked and it had pierced a hole straight through his alloy!
as we were on the side of the road a BMW did exactly the same!
but the BM had a spare, we didn't... me and my mate ended up in a scrap yard/recovery place looking for a tyre that was a) road legal and b) going to fit.
turns out a Montego had the same size tyre's but it took us until around 5:00am to find that out!
eventually got home (driving pretty damn slow) at around 7:30am the following morning.
    nightmare!!

I hit a concrete RSJ that was about 5 ft wide by 10 inches square on the M$ by Newport once at over 70MPH.
It was in the outside lane, on a bend. The car infront of me swerved around it, clipping it and altering it's position on the road. By the time I realised what it was I'd hit it.
    Result?
One 4 day old Passat Turbo Sport (One of the first in the UK) needing 2 new wheels, lower front spoiler, front suspension complete, new steering rack and new sump!!
To say I sh*t myself is an understatement!!

My dad was once following a lorry on the motorway in a week old mondeo, the lorry shed it tyre, which went straight under the mondeo and ripped the underside of the car to shreds. Result - one less mondeo on the roads.
