    Default How long can a 1.8 SRI engine last before it dies???

    i have one with 137k miles on the clock and its running sweet as a nut still, just wondering if anyone knows of any other high milage 1.8 SRI's or knows of any that have packed in.............

    if its serviced and looked after regular, ul probs get another 50k out of it

    i don't see why your engine can't just go on to possibly 200k with regular oil changes belt changes etc.and it doesn't get the 5hit raked out of it all the time. thing all round the engine might fail tho

    I always assume that the engine will last as long as it's maintained well. Regular oil changes are a must (every 6 months or so) but it'll probably be the ancillaries that will pack up first. Obviously, 137000 motorway miles will have been much easier on the car than 137000 miles of stop-start town driving.

    just drove a 1.8 sri hire car. It died every time it had to go up hill

    i've driven loads of the 1.8vvt SRi's. you have to make full use of the revs otherwise it feels sluggish. over about 4.5k they open right up!

    The answer is...how long is a piece of string. If it's looked after properly and regularly and driven sympathetically who knows? 250,000 maybe...
