Default Stage 1 cams are in - with pics!

    Hi all,

Had the stage I comp cams fitted tonight. Idle's like a biaaatch at the moment, hoping that will smooth out a bit as it learns, which it has been doing.

Ran the car on fast idle for 20 minutes, then went for a blast.

Felt slower than before to begin with, came to some lights, let it idle a bit, got round onto the dual carriageway and wellied it, all the power comes at the top after about 4k rpm where it pulls like a good 'en!!

I am waiting until the ecu has settled down a bit as it doesn't seem too happy at the moment, giving good whallops of power in the mid range sometimes and dragging her feet others.

Hopefully once the techies have sorted the 2.4TB issue, I can get that fitted along with the new injectors, get the remap, then job done!!

    Here are the pics...

All stripped down - original camshafts...

Yes, had to take some brave pills, because as far as I know, I am the first to fit these type of cams to this engine in the UK. Others have them but haven't fitted them yet, and the most popular choice in the past has been Piper regrinds. I opted for these though as they worked out about the same price from the U.S. as the regrinds are now, and the car doesn't need to be off the road while the originals are sent away!

Been waiting all night for this thread mate. Dont forget you have learn how to drive the cams also. I'm sure by the weekend you'll have your very own flying machine. Top marks, cant wait to be embarrassed when we compare times.

Yeah sorry its so late mate, not long got in!!

I hope my times are an improvement!! Your 30-50 time of 3.3 secs seems quite quick to me . Will have a bash at times the weekend hopefully.

Yep but there all over one run so no averages, they'll be more accurate when I do a couple more this weekend.

a "master reset" might help to settle that jumpy ECU mate...unplug the battery for several minutes and reconnect....that will give you a fresh start on that side too

Wow, nice job mate, it'll take a little time to settle & get used to but I'm sure it'll be worth it.
