Default Revs to 3k immediately after starting

    I have 2003 C Vectra 2.2 eco.

Immediately after starting she revs to 3k and just sits there.

Does not respond to throttle at all. i.e. pushing the throttle does not make her rev more.

I drove it home one night and it was fine then the next morning when I started her, she was doing this!

Anyone have any ideas? The engine light stays on.

Hmmm, Maybe the electronic pedal box. There isn't a throttle cable on that I don't think so it could be the ecu not getting a signal for the throttle position from the pedal box. Someone else may have a better idea????

    Hi mate,

if the light is staying on then I would get the trouble code read as this would pinpoint the cause of the problem.

How do you read the code from the 2.2?

I have seen the thread for the 3.2V6. Is it the same for the 2.2 4 cylinder?

Either take it to a garage to get them to read the codes, or buy something like this to do it yourself

Don't get the U381, it doesn't do CAN, you need the U581...

I took it to my local garage, but he couldn't read the codes from it for some reason (maybe the CAN / ODB you mentioned).

It's @ the dealer now. All I can hear is $$$$$$$.

I think it is actually in that limp mode, or some variant of it. I drove it to the local garage and it drove OK. Just sat on 3k rpm, I put it in neutral at the traffic lights. Otherwise would just get upto 50km/hour and sorta stop there.

I'll post up whatever the problem ends up being, but whatever it is I'm sure its going to be expensive
