    Default Small Plumbing Question

My toilet cistern has a plastic pipe which comes out of the bottom of it, through the wall then to the outside of the house. Some kind of overflow I assume.

Anyway, mine is dripping outside the house, any ideas what this could be

    Cheers

There is a simple adjustment you can make to the ball valve to stop it overflowing, it's a bit difficult to describe but you should be able to google it and find out what to do

If it is the overflow, prob means your ballcock needs to be moved slightly to ensure the water is not flowing constantly

I did google it and it came back with that.

Wasn't sure if it was an overflow at first as it comes from the bottom of the cistern !!!

an adjustment can sometimes do the trick, try the screw on the ballcock to lower the water level or if that fails you may need a new washer inside the ballcock itself

There's lots of wierd and wonderful designs around these days, the close coupled ones just overflow into the pan and don't have the overflow pipe at all.

its the ball valve, they are easy to replace if you can turn the water off.. if adjustment doesnt do it, then pop inot wickes or other, not too expensive, i use a torbeck quiet fill, cost me around £8. takes about 20mins. Or ask a neighbour.. they may help... but wickes have a fact sheet instore.

Think I have fixed it, there was a plastic adjutment nut and screw which pushes the water filling valve closed. I think it was overfilling as the water line was almost at the top of the overflow pipe, the water now stops filling about half an inch lower.

FIngers crossed, or will try changing the ball valve

    Cheers all
