Well, Did it tonight, 54 Plate Cdti 150 & >>>>>>......

It Throws a Check Engine immediately

So Plan B, Reset the DTC Code & Unplug again, Only this time plugging into Spare Egr....

So One Egr still in Situ on the Inlet manifold & Another just plugged in !!??

Started it up & >>>.... No Dtc Short Lived !! Check engine light within a Minute !! The exhaust flow through the Egr & into the inlet manifold is definately monitored in some way

Its not on the 2.2 petrol, in fact its quite a common mod on the Astra, vec B 2.2. Unbolt EGR fit VX blanking plate then just hang the EGR of the side of blanking plate, the ECU only seams to monitor it opening and shutting. In fact you can get VX to Tech 2 it out a its the field remedy for a dodgy EGR.

I was only thinking the other day that it'd be great if it were possible to remove the EGR on the 'out-of-warranty' CDTIs. Has anyone done this yet?
Maybe the ECU won't allow it to be done, in that case we're scuppered

I'm pretty sure the ecu throws a fault code because it detects the lack of egr gas flow if it is blanked off.

Not me personally but will have to soon when my 2.4 manifold arrives as the US dont use EGR so there manifolds dont have an inlet for them. Vid has disconnected his as he's done the 2.4 mob already. The guys on the 2.2 forum are removing them for 2 reasons, 1 there shafted and 2 the EGR Vent stick up behind the TB butterfly about 2 cm so there removing it to improve air flow. There is a guy on there Called Vocky with a VX220 (TV feature next month) who makes up an EGR cheater to trick the ECU into thinking its still there, this enables the total removal of the EGR system from Valve to TB.

That's what I want for diesel.
Surprised Nutron hasn't done this yet (or maybe I missed that).
If you find out how, let us know

You can have the egr disabled via a remap like Nutron has otherwise they appear to throw up a fault code
